I recently decided to find a use for this skill. I have never used it and wanted to see what I could do with it. I have not used it yet, and am asking for advice, info, and strategies before I get too far.

Ok, the things I am considering are low cost attack skills, since there is an increase in the cost from this skill. At 15 Expertise, the attacks cost their listed amount, which means you can't use them as much as with a normal build using Expertise to lower the cost. Increasing recharge would allow skills that deal high damage, but have long recharges to be used more often. So, my questions.

1) If I run this in PvE and use 16 Expertise, I get a 79% recharge bonus. If I use a skill like Distracting Shot, the energy cost would be 4 (slight lowering from the 16 Expertise and 150% increase of ED). Would this mean the 10 second rechange of Distracting Shot (10 seconds) becomes 2 seconds (~80% bonus)?

2) If I use a skill like Point Blank Shot (high damage + low cost), the recharge would become 0.6 seconds - or 1 second. Without a skill like Lightning Reflexes (IAS) a bow fires every 2 seconds (at most). Would this mean I would be interrupting a normal attack to reuse PBS faster than the bow would fire?

3) Advise on the build I am considering - and have yet to test.

[point blank shot][distracting shot][poison tip signet][lightning reflexes][experts dexterity][troll unguent][ rez of choice ] [ optional ]

12+1+3 Expertise
10+1 Marksmanship
8+1 Wilderness Survival

Rez would depend on what secondary I used, and the optional I have considered several skills. Skills I am leaning towards most for the optional are:

The biggest thing that interested me was the chance of using D-shot every 2 seconds. Would this allow that, and would energy be a major problem? I would be using a Short Bow, as I'm already in close range for PBS.

We tried something like that in TA once, Our goal was to recharge Debilitating Shot and D SHot faster. We had 3 Rangers and a monk, Kinda self sustaining Rangers and Apply Posion and Screeming shot.

We D Shotted tons of stuff and drained alot of energy, but couldn't kill anything. Not enough damage and the slow degen just wasnt enough.

It worked though, sort of on the D Shot part

Heh, swap over one of the Rangers for a Warrior or something then and put something like Sloth Hunter's on the Rangers?

I tried this in RA a few times awhile back:

You can spam horns kd's a lot faster and the energy does come out equal with the gain from Lotus Strike, but it's just not that great of a build in the end and trying to keep dexterity up in melee is clumsy at best.

from my experience the only time a bowshot occurs outside the rate of fire of the bow (whether normal or increased by IAS skills) is if you are using an attack skill with an activation time lower than the bow's rate of fire.

Its a horrible elite skill, barrage has been and always will be the holy grail for rangers in pve.

[Glass Arrows] is my most common elite for PvE, cause I love the damage I can produce with it. However, does anyone know the answers to my questions?

1) Will Distracting Shot recharge in 2 seconds instead of 10 with the 79% bonus from Experts Decterity?

2) Will using a skill that will recharge faster than the normal attack speed of the bow cause problems? (AshenX gave some, I am looking for more)

3) Are there any recommendations for the build?

1) Yes, I believe it will round it up.

2) It wouldn't cause problems, but it wouldn't really be very beneficial.

Yes it works, a funny build a guildy of mine came up with revolved around the use of [Distracting Shot][Disrupting Lunge][Charm Animal][Comfort Animal][Experts Dexterity]

Basically, he kept using them on recharge to interupt as many skills as possible also disabling them.

i moslty use [[Expert's Dexterity] with low energy base hammer attack and adrline skills. it will be great when we find a great way to use this skills hope we find it, expect the [[Expert's Dexterity] Bunny thumper build

Been playing my other characters more than my Ranger, so I still have not used this build. I did, however, use it on a hero, and although I didn't monitor it closely, I did not see energy problems. I did see a LOT of interrupts, which is what I wanted, and I saw quite a bit of poison, although I also had a Death Nova MM with me.

I gave [expert's dexterity] + [distracting shot] + [debilitating shot] a try in RA.

Result = epic fail. Sure, both can be shot off every ~2 seconds, but I ran out of energy in about 10 seconds. I learned the true value of expertise right there

[Point Blank Shot] is a bow attack - you can't use it faster than the bow would fire because it is used with the bow (and can't be used without one). This would be the same for any bow attack skill. If, for example, you were using only PBS and Expert's you would be only able to use PBS every 2 seconds (or whatever the refire rate of the bow would be).
